UPDATE: Samsung India website has demystified the 1GHz equation.
As the world was bemoaning about the fact that India will be getting a 1GHz Omnia HD, one of our commenters left a very plausible comment.
Samsung India might be adding up the clock speeds of the CPU as well as of the DSP which, if we count, goes in excess of 1GHz. Omnia HD houses an OMAP3430 application processor along with TMS320C64x DSP. This is the breakup sourced from Wikipedia.
OMAP3430 – 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX 530 GPU + 430MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)
Ok, technically speaking Samsung could be right in claiming this but if we see from a consumer’s perspective, it looks to be a shoddy marketing attempt to lure innocent buyers.
