Samsung to out Galaxy S Plus variant with Android 2.3, 1.4GHz CPU

Galaxy S Plus

We already have a Galaxy S variant in the form of Galaxy SL – a Super LCD version with 1GHz OMAP processor. Now the word comes from Samsung Russia’s Livejournal blog that the Korean giant will launch a Galaxy S Plus version (I9001), which will be superior than the original Galaxy S.

The Galaxy S Plus will bear the same design except for the metallic back cover and will come with Android 2.3 pre-loaded, a faster 1.4GHz CPU, 4-inch Super AMOLED display, HD video support, 8GB internal memory and 1650mAh battery.

The phone is expected in April-end in Russia for a price of around 23,990 rubles (US$842).

galaxy s plus only has a single core processor, a smaller screen and a battery equivalent to galaxy s2. From what i read, this also has wi-fi tethering. Gathering all of these spec differences, it is probably better to pair galaxy s plus with the wi-fi only versions of galaxy tab 10.1 or 8.9 since galaxy s plus’ battery will probably last longer than the s2 (an advantage of s plus over s2 when using wi-fi tethering). One who has a 1 GHz dual-core tablet will probably have no use for a phone of the same processing power coz he/she will place his/her apps in the tablet, right?
