Samsung denies bidding for Nokia

June 9, 2011 By kunal 1 Comment

Samsung today refuted rumors that they’re contemplating to acquire Nokia. The rumor is undoubtedly juicy but when asked for a comment by Wall Street Journal, spokesperson at Samsung and Nokia declined to comment citing “market speculation.”

Even analysts reject the idea of acquiring Nokia as they feel the Finnish mobile maker cannot add value to Samsung.

Samsung acquiring Nokia doesn’t seem very feasible as the two companies are on quite different trajectory paths. Samsung has seen tremendous growth and is launching new pads trying to target Apple, whereas Nokia is clearly going backwards losing market share very quickly.

Makes sense for Samsung on the basis of Nokia’s retail prowess in EMEA and APAC. Samsung will not have to rebuild those retail channels.
