Samsung has announced earnings estimate for the second quarter ended in June. According to the initial figures, Samsung is expecting a weaker quarter with consolidated sales reaching 39 trillion won with an operating profit of 3.7 trillion won. Compare the operating profit for the same period last year, Samsung posted a record profit of 5.01 trillion won.
The reason for the weak earnings is the semiconductors and the LCD business, which are facing a decline in demand, also resulting in the merging of the two businesses.
Despite the downturn in two of Samsung’s profitable businesses, the mobile communications division is expected to record a good number due to the convincing sales of smartphones, especially Galaxy S II.
The final result will be posted later this month.
