A report released by Strategy Analytics confirms Samsung has overtaken Apple to sell the highest number of smartphones in a single quarter. According to it, Samsung shipped 27.8m smartphones in Q3 2011 that accounted for a market share of 23.8 percent as compared to Apple’s 17.1m units comprising 14.6 percent.

Needless to say, Samsung’s Galaxy line of phones were the major contributors that also helped the revenues of its Telecommunications business, recording an all-time high quarterly sales of 14.90 trillion won.
