In a board meeting today, Samsung Electronics’ executives approved the split of its ailing LCD business. The LCD business will be spun off from the Electronics division and will be formed as a new company, tentatively named as Samsung Display Co. Ltd. from April 1.
Samsung says this decision will help them to take decisions faster and also respond to rapidly changing market demands and conditions.
Samsung a few days back hinted that its LCD business will be spun off from its profitable Electronics business due to the slump in the LCD demand and surmounting losses.
