November 21, 2012 By kunal 3 Comments

It’s no secret that Samsung was working on a chip utilizing ARM’s big.LITTLE technology but the first details regarding the chip is expected in February at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC).

The only details confirmed till now are that the 28nm processor will be an 8-core one with the first quad Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and the second quad Cortex-A7 cores are clocked at 1.2GHz.

The presentation is slated on February 19, which is a week before Mobile World Congress. Could this chip be used in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S IV?

big.LITTLE is very important for Samsung Galaxy S IV so much so that a delay of even six months will be ok. Samsung Galaxy S III Alpha with a 13 MP shooter can hold the fort in the meantime.

Samsung Galaxy S IV is going to be the last 32 bit phone. Going to both big.LITTLE and 64 bits for Samsung Galaxy S V will be difficult.
