Samsung’s first digital camera powered by Android OS is selling for just Rs. 16,999 (~$265) on Amazon India. We’ve seen camera going for around Rs. 20,000 but this is perhaps the cheapest you can find the Galaxy Camera (EK-GC100) for. The camera on Amazon is sold by Croma Retail (fulfilled by Amazon) and interestingly, the camera on Croma’s official website is expensive than what they’re offering on Amazon.
The Galaxy Camera may not be the best camera when it comes to photography but it does offer 21X optical zoom, 3G connectivity and Android Jelly Bean OS. The camera is also equipped with a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LCD, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and more.
Thanks, Nilay!

That didn’t come as a surprise. Just won a bet with my sister over the price drop. In a world of increasingly miniature cameras, this gadget clearly exceeds the acceptable size for a handheld 16MP camera. Too few accessories come in the box. Image quality is much lower than many mobile phones cameras. Above all one could get a superior quality camera for almost half that price.
Every wholesale retailer like Croma, will sooner or later be faced with that question on such steeply priced poorly positioned gadgets of comparatively minimal functions. Looking at the components, it could be worth around Rs.12,500 max. I will not surprised if the price falls again by another 15-20% in the short term.
