Samsung has started rolling out Tizen in some of its retail products but the operating system is yet to be seen in smartphones. Now Wall Street Journal reports that Samsung is planning to launch Tizen-powered smartphones in emerging markets like Russia and India.
According to their sources, Samsung will hold an Unpacked-like event in Russia to reveal the Tizen smartphone.
The timing of the announcement will most likely coincide with the Tizen developer conference that will be conducted in San Francisco on June 4.
The report also mentions Samsung is also planning to launch the device in India.
Tizen-powered smartphones have lurked in the wild for quite some time but it’s just the developers who have got access to early Tizen-powered smartphone prototypes.
Samsung currently uses Tizen OS in its recently launched Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, NX series camera and plans to integrate it in televisions in the near future.
