Samsung has been gearing up for 14nm process for quite some time and after the collaboration with Globalfoundaries last year, Samsung has announced the mass production of the first mobile application processor based on 14nm FinFET process technology.

Samsung will adopt the process for its Exynos 7 Octa processor and compared to a processor based on 20nm process, the new AP will be 20 percent faster, consume 35 percent less power and offer a 30 percent productivity gain.

Samsung has a tendency to drop hints on the features of its upcoming device with timely announcements and we won’t be surprised if we find a 14nm FinFET processor in the Galaxy S6 that is scheduled to be announced on March 1.
