Samsung’s had an eventful last couple of weeks. The company has been working over time after it announced the massive recall of the Galaxy Note7 and although they’ve been working hard to replace every buyer’s Galaxy Note7, there will be few who cannot exchange the device on time.
For such consumers and avoid any untoward incidents, Samsung will roll out a firmware update from September 20 in South Korea that will limit the Galaxy Note7 battery charge to 60 percent. This will prevent the phone to overheat and possibly not catch fire until the affected units are exchanged.
There’s no word if a similar firmware update will be rolled out to rest of the markets but given the seriousness of the Galaxy Note7 catching fire, we do hope they release it.
Samsung has recalled the smartphone in over 50 countries and have been urging customers to replace their phone as soon as possible. Samsung will spend around $1 billion to recall the device.
We’ve compiled a list of all the countries where Samsung has recalled the device, which you can read here.
