Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics subsidiary has announced the development of a slim HDD motor meant for ultrabooks. The slim motor allows manufacturers to integrate a 2.5-inch 7mm HDD in ultrabooks and offer the same 500GB capacity compared to that of a 9.5mm drive. Furthermore, the small size also helps to reduce the impact resistance and noise.
